The Kings went into New Orleans and got their asses handed to them by the Pelicans. They were unfortunately without their star point guard De'Aaron Fox for the 2nd game in a row, and for the 2nd game in a row, it was noticeable. That must have been why they got destroyed right? No, because the Pelicans were also without Jonas Valančiūnas, Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. The Kings simply got outworked, out-hustled and outplayed by the Pelicans. The Kings were a step slow, didn't show the right amount of aggression and intensity to win this game. It's unfortunately another game in which the Kings couldn't beat a team that were on a 2nd night of a back to back. For as good as the Kings have been this year, they just can't win these games for whatever reason.

Despite the demoralizing loss, because of the wins they banked in earlier, they have a bit of cushion to work with and it doesn't send them plummeting down the standings. And if you told Kings fans that they would be 3rd in the standings at this point of the season, many of them would be ecstatic.

The Kings didn't have a lot of time to pick up the pieces from that loss as they headed to Houston to face the Rockets the next day, and they responded. Mike Brown had said in the press conference after the Pelicans loss he wanted to see how the Kings were going to respond to adversity after a demoralizing loss. Well the Kings came into Houston with a sense of urgency and blow out the Rockets in decisive fashion.

They needed a game like this to reestablish who they were get some confidence back. Call it a "get right" game, and while yes, it is the Rockets, who showed why they're one of the worst teams in the league, the Kings showed up with a sense of purpose and took care of business. It's something that a good team has to be able to do consistently, and the Kings did just that.

The Kings will face the Rockets again to close out this road trip, let's see if the Kings can close out the road trip with a win.
