Someone definitely told the Kings players that they played soft in the loss on Saturday. The Kings took that message to heart came out the 1st quarter and showed a certain edge and played incredibly physical to start the game and it rattled the Wolves early and held them to 17 points in the 1st quarter. But there was another issue,  the Kings couldn’t score at all from 3, 1-14 in the 1st half. It wasn't that they were playing bad on offense, they just couldn't hit 3s, and the Wolves took advantage and got back into the game and took a lead going into halftime. The game then turned into a back and forth affair all the way until the end of the 4th and overtime.

In overtime Kings went small with Lyles at the 5 with Sabonis fouling out, and he proceeded to pull Rudy Gobert out of the paint, effectively neutralizing him on the defensive end and that was the game. A good, gutsy win by the Kings, and while it wasn't pretty, the Kings showed that they can win ugly by overcoming their shooting struggles with incredible individual performances from their stars.

The next game in San Antonio on Wednesday was kind of the same story, they came out playing very physical on defense, and it rattled the Spurs a bit to start. But again, the outside shots just didn't fall. In fact, they were outshot, outrebounded, outassisted by the Spurs, but still won by 10. They did so by forcing 18 turnovers with their active defense and again, getting brilliant performances by their stars.

At some point, the role players are going to have to step up but for the time being, the Kings can tip their cap to their stars for shouldering the load in the meantime.

The trade deadline is almost here so the Kings have been linked to a few guys such as Matisse Thybulle, Darius Bazley, Josh Richardson and more. Let's wait and see if there's a move to be made at the deadline that can really cement the King's position in the upper tier of the Western Conference playoff picture.
