Kings vs Warriors and Nuggets 4/9/23: Kings rest stars, drop final 2 games of the season - a podcast by Owen and Fong Legacy

The Kings faced off against the Warriors for the 4th and final time this season in the G1C and it was a bit ... uneventful. With the Grizzlies securing the 2 seed the same night, the Kings decided to rest DeAaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Kevin Huerter and Malik Monk. Meanwhile, the Warriors played all their guys with the exception of Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors would proceed to rout the Kings as the home team could not find their offense, shooting under 39% FG for the game and 28% from 3. It wasn't pretty for the Kings at all but they showed a lot of fight and spirit throughout the game, but their lack of scoring doomed them against a Warriors team firing on all cylinders.

They would follow that up with a 3rd straight loss against the Nuggets in Denver in what was a nothing burger game for both teams. The Nugget sat all their stars, while the King's stars only played the 1st half. The Kings dominated in the first half but the Nuggets took the lead against the King's 2nd and 3rd units in the 3rd quarter and never looked back.

While there is very little of substance to take away from these 2 games for the Kings, it does show you that the greatest offense of all time can fall apart without their stars.

Well, with those 2 games out of the way, the Kings now head into the playoffs and they will be facing the Golden State Warriors in the 1st round in the Battle for NorCal supremacy. It's the first time they've ever been in the playoffs together in the Sacramento era and the first time they'll face each other in the postseason.

It's shaping up to be a great series with endless storyline possibilities. What a great way for the Kings to enter back into the postseason after 17 long years!
