Kings vs Wizards Postgame 2/12/22, NBA trade deadline recap - a podcast by Owen and Fong Legacy

The new look Kings pick up another win, this time on the road in Washington DC against the shorthanded Wizards. While it took a while for the Kings to get going, they took the lead 82-80 at 5:17 in the 3rd and never looked back. Some of the new acquisitions of the Kings at the deadline were on full display in this game and it gave the Kings a new identity. The Kings now have 3 long wings surrounding Fox and Sabonis in the starting lineup, and feisty defenders in Mitchell, Divincenzo, Metu and Holmes coming off the bench. It's a lot of useful and interesting mix of players and it will be up to Coach Alvin Gentry and his staff to figure out the right lineup combinations. As it is right now, the new and rejuvenated Kings look to be surging and it will be curious to see if this energy maintains, and how the team will respond once it meets some adversity in their remaining schedule.

After talking about the Kings, we recap the trade deadline for the Kings, which in addition to trade with the Pacers, the Kings were able to acquire Donte Divincenzo from the Bucks, Josh Jackson and Trey Lyles from the Pistons for basically Marvin Bagley. It's unfortunately that the Marvin Bagley era in Sacramento had to come to an end, but with his exit, in comes a new spark of life for the Kings in the form of Donte Divincenzo. We have yet to see Jackson and Lyles, but Divincenzo showed that he is an incredibly smart player who is feisty, plays hard and affects the game significantly without shooting the ball. The Kings will enjoy the production he brings to this team.
