Today we’re talking to Jerry Gelsomino 1974 Art and Design Graduate.


Jerry worked as an RA and as a lighting technician in broadcasting during his time on campus. The majority of his course-load was in the Art of Design following the years of Buckminster Fuller's teachings. Jerry is one of SIUC’s exceptional students that chose to take on a Self-determined major. This autonomous decision to build his own major was reflected in Jerry’s life path. Jerry has had abundant and diverse career offers since his time at SIU. These opportunities granted him the freedom to travel the world designing with his wife Linda Gelsomino. From Chicago to California to Australia to Hong Kong to now Michigan Jerry has had quite the well-traveled life.


This week’s episode will be a two-part episode. The first half is about his time on campus and the second half next week will be focused on Jerry's career and family life.
