In the Netherlands people are riding their bike every day. In Australia that's different. Cycling can be a lot harder here because of the landscape, and the roads are often not designed for bikes. Melbourne and Perth are bike friendly cities. With Marcel van der Sluis, an avid cyclist and bicycle seller in Perth, we discuss the rise of the electric bike, and the differences between the Netherlands and a city like Perth, when it comes to the love for bicycles. - Waar in Nederland jong en oud dagelijks op de fiets stapt, is dat in Australië toch vaak even anders. Australië is niet zo plat als Nederland wat het fietsen en stuk zwaarder maakt en het wegennetwerk is op veel plekken niet fietsvriendelijk. Sydney is daar een goed voorbeeld van. Melbourne en ook Perth zijn voor Australische begrippen wel goede fietssteden. Wij spraken met fervent fietser en fietsenverkoper Marcel van der Sluis, onder meer over de opkomst van de elektrische fiets en de verschillen tussen Nederland en een stad als Perth, als het om de liefde voor de fiets gaat.
