Australian Jews in Melbourne and Sydney staged limited gatherings to express solidarity with Israel over its current conflict with Hamas and heard politicians from the main parties, as well as community representatives, speak about their support for Israel, empathy for the victims on both sides of the conflict and concern over the rise of anti-Semitic attacks here and overseas.

Australian Jewish leaders criticized the biased, heightened anti-Israel propaganda expressed in some of the Australian media and especially social-media, with the political advocacy organizations Get-Up! and Amnesty International singled out for a particularly vehement critique over their statements during the recent Israel-Gaza conflict.
