Judith Staley of Sewover50 updates us about #So50SustainableSewing challenge for August. This challenge is all about using 'waste' fabric to make a garments or accessories using fabric that is already in the system.... your remnants, charity shop or thrift fabric from estate sales, vintage fabrics, manufacturing waste. fabric picked up from fabric swap tables at meet ups or from your fellow sewist's destashes, discarded garments or tablecloths or bed linen.

Please avoid buying charity shop garments that you might think are worth remaking because they are a very large size. These garments should be left for people who are looking for these sizes for themselves to wear. This challenge is essentially to use what you or a friend/family member/ fellow sewist already have available.

Seeing how you give fabric or garments a second life will spark your creativity so follow and use both #So50SustainableSewing and #Sewover50 to tag your make.

Keep an ear out for the next 3 special sewover50 podcasts to inspire you to sew sustainably.
