2 Cor. 5-1-11 --- Lord, I Will Be With You in Perfection-1. INTRODUCTION-a. Jesus' resurrection points us to our future resurrection.-2. A FUTURE PERFECT LIFE AWAITS US -v1 -- 4--a. Metaphors used by Paul--i. 'earthly house', 'tent', 'building from God', 'house not made with hands'.-v1-ii. Our physical bodies.-a. 'the body'. v6, 8, 10-b. 'clothed'. v2-c. 'not naked'. v3-d. 'mortality swallowed up by life'. v4 - 1 Cor 15-53-54-53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put-on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and-this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying-that is written- -Death is swallowed up in victory.--b. Our future perfect life.-c. What must believers do- Long expectantly.-i. Groan. v2, 4-ii. Earnestly desire. v2-iii. Burdened. v4-- On earth.-- Not in-person with-Christ.-- Body and soul complete-but mortal and-corruptible body.-- In heaven.-- In-person with Christ.-- Disembodied soul.-- New heaven and new earth.-- In-person with Christ.-- Body and soul complete,-immortal and incorruptible-body.-- Bodies resurrected.-Glorified State-1 Thes 4-17-Present DEATH Intermediate-CHRIST-COMES-AGAIN-Future-7-3. A FUTURE PERFECT LIFE IS GUARANTEED -v5 -- 8--a. Assurance from God.-i. God will bring us to the glorified state. v5a-ii. God has given His Spirit to us as a down payment. v5b-But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He-who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies-through His Spirit who dwells in you. Rom 8-11-b. What must believers do- Live confidently.-i. Confidence -- present state is temporary. v6
