INTRODUCTION-a. Last week - general overview of the three-in-one nature of God.-This week - operations and personal relations within the Trinity.-b. 1689 BCOF chapter 2 para 3-- the Father is of none, neither begotten nor proceeding--- the Son is eternally begotten of the Father--- the Holy Spirit proceeding from the Father and the Son--- -.. distinguished by several peculiar relative properties and personal relations.-2. ANALYSIS-a. Context-i. Believers are justified by faith in Christ, not by law compliance.-ii. Christ would have died in vain if the law could save sinners.-b. Interest-i. Operations and personal relations within the Trinity revealed through the work-of redemption.-3. RELEVANCE-a. There is subordination within the Trinity.-i. In the work of redemption, there are distinct modes of operations.-- Father -- sends. v4, 6-- Son -- born, redeem. v4, 5-- Spirit -- indwells, assures. v6-ii. In the work of redemption, there is subordination in the modes of operation.-- The Son is sent. He obeys and glorifies the Father. John 6-38, 17-1, 1 John-4-14, Phil 2-8-- The Spirit is sent by the Father and the Son. He glorifies the Father and the-Son. John 14-26, 15-26
