REASONS FOR THESE TREATMENTS--a. Our brethren is more precious compared to our personal liberties.--- They are someone for whom Christ died -14-15b-.-- They are the work of God -14-20-.-i. Pursue love, joy and peace -14-15a, 17, 19a-.-ii. Pursue their welfare -14-15 - 20, 14-19, 15-2-.--1 Cor. 10-23-24 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful- all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being.---b. The unity among brethren is more precious compared to our personal liberties.--i. Unity glorifies God -15-6-.-ii Pursue oneness -15-5-.---c. Our obedience to Christ is more precious compared to our personal liberties.--i. The good that we uphold becomes evil if we stumble our brethren -14-16-.-ii. The good that we exercise freely is sin if we stumble our brethren.--1 Cor. 8-9-12 But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak. For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols- And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died- But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. . .
