Psalm 46 - A Christian Guide for Hope and Comfort--1- Introduction-----2- Background to the Psalm--This psalm is written as praise to God for His deliverance. It could be after--a- Jehoshaphat fought against the people Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir in 2 Chron. 20-b- The war King Hezekiah was preparing Jerusalem for an impending siege by the Assyrians led by Sennacherib, -2 Chron. 32, 2 Kings 18-19------3- God is our powerful protector, so trust in Him to deliver you-----4- God's presence is with His people, so draw near to Him------5- God is a mighty Warrior and King, so bow down and worship Him.------6- Conclusion--a- Let us be still and know that He is God. -----b- Let us be still and know that our Saviour Jesus is the mighty King and Warrior who has already gained the victory over sin and death.------c- Let us be still and appreciate this Jesus who is the King who left the throne of heaven to save sinner like you and me. ------d- Let us be still - thank Jesus, and be more appreciative of Him by doing His will.------e- Let us be still, bow down and worship this Jesus more passionately.
