NOW THAT WE ARE SAVED IN CHRIST,-HOW DO WE CONDUCT OUR LIVES TOWARDS OUR BRETHREN--Rom. 12-15 - Love Them With Empathy --1. THE DUTY - WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO -REJOICE- AND -WEEP----a. -rejoice- - to be joyful, to be glad.-b. -weep- - to cry loudly.-c. Sympathy vs. empathy.-d. Emotions among brethren are tied together. E.g. Jonathan - David, 1 Sam. 20-17.---2. THE BASIS - WHY DO WE REJOICE AND WEEP TOGETHER---a. 1 Cor. 12-26-27--And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it- or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.--b. We are joined to the same body. -c. We can identify with each other's joys and griefs best.---3. THE SCOPE - WHAT DO WE REJOICE AND WEEP ABOUT---a. Everything that affects their spiritual well-being. -b. Every situation in the material realm that affects their physical well-being.-c. If we neglect either aspect, we are implying that,-i. We are not interested to relate to our brethren as a whole person. -ii. We are not interested in what God is doing in our brethren's lives.---4. THE BENEFITS - WHAT GOOD DO WE DO WHEN WE REJOICE AND WEEP TOGETHER---a. Our joys are amplified many times.-b. Our sorrows are divided over many times.-c. A united body bonded by love. Col 3-14.-d. A united body that honours Christ our Head.--5. THE PRACTICAL DIRECTIONS - HOW CAN WE REJOICE AND WEEP TOGETHER---a. General Directions-i. Don't be aloof. Be connected with others,-ii. Don't be self-seeking. Be concerned for others.--b. Specific Directions to Rejoice With Those Who Rejoice-i. Don't envy. Be contented.-ii. Don't be proud. Be humble.--c. Specific Directions to Weep With Those Who Weep
