THE TEMPLE AND I--1 KINGS 1- Solomon appointed as king.-1 KINGS 2- Solomon established as king.-1 KINGS 3-4- Solomon asked wisdom, Solomon acting wisely as king.-1 KINGS 5-8- Solomon wisely prepares, builds, completes and dedicates the Temple.----1- WHAT IS THE TEMPLE----a- The Temple replaces the Tabernacle.--2 SAMUEL 7-5-6 - -Go and tell My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD- -Would you build a house for Me to dwell in- For I have not dwelt in a house since the time that I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt, even to this day, but have moved about in a tent and in a tabernacle.-----b- The Temple is the sacred dwelling place of God. --EXODUS 25-8 - And let them make Me a sanctuary -sacred place-, that I may dwell among them.-- --c- The Temple is the place where God meets His people and gives His word.--EXODUS 25-22 - And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel.----d- The Temple is the place where offerings are sacrificed to the Lord.--EXODUS 29-42 - This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet you to speak with you.----e- The Temple is the place where God's glory is abundantly displayed --EXODUS 40-34 - Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.- -f- The Temple is the place where joy and pleasure overflows--PSALM 16-11 - You will show me the path of life- in Your presence is fullness of joy
