Are you looking for life in dead-end places? This one stopped me in my tracks when I heard it during the Easter service at Soul City Church. I can remember a time when I was looking for love, connection, and fulfillment in all the wrong places. I thought my career could meet my EVERY need, and I was wrong. I now see that I was trying to get all of this from the wrong source. Once I started to give myself all the things I expected my career to give me, my career skyrocketed. It was never my career's job to meet all my needs. I blame society for this one. We are taught to seek joy, fulfillment, significance, love, community, and connection from our work! I am not saying that you shouldn't find these things in your work; I think we are sold this lie that if we do enough "work," you will find all of it! The shift for me is that I am not asking my work to be my everything, which has changed EVERYTHING.
