This week on She Started It with Angelica Malin, I’m joined by the very wonderful Maxine Mahwinney. Maxine Mawhinney is a journalist and broadcaster from Belfast. Until 2017, Maxine was the UK’s oldest female national newsreader. Maxine left the BBC in 2017 to launch a new career at the age of 60. For 20 years she was a senior BBC News and current affairs anchor, covering stories from the Oklahoma bombing to the death of Princess Diana. Now she has launched her own global interview programme, The Moment. We chat about her glittering career in broadcast, advice for aspiring journalists, why she left the BBC and how to conduct a great interview (hint: it’s all about listening). Don’t forget to leave a review, rate and subscribe for a new episode of She Started It every Monday!
