During the final days of the American involvement in the Vietnam War, as the Northern forces surrounded Saigon and the Southern forces tries to escape with their families, feats of aerial daring were displayed. Jess Brown was the first Black aviator in Naval history. He sadly crashed in freezing weather after engaging with the enemy- Brown was pinned in his aircraft and was unable to be freed despite the efforts of his fellow pilot Tom Hudner.
