Jane Fonda lost her mother when she took her own life at the mere age of 42. Jane was the daughter of the second wife of actor Henry Fonda, Frances Ford Seymour. Frances’ life was fraught with complications and her medical records noted that she had suffered from sexual abuse as a child. The marriage with Henry was fraught with trouble. Jane Fonda has said that the death of her mother turned out to be one of the defining moments of her life. She was only 12 years old when her mother passed away. Her father did not bother to tell her or her brother what exactly had killed their mother until she found out nearly a year later. Henry Fonda had told his children that his wife had died of a heart attack; when in actuality she tragically died of suicide at Craig House, a sanatorium.
