A tangent to being likable is not being stereotyped or judged in a negative way. Sometimes, avoiding a bad impression is the best that we can do in certain situations or with certain people. That’s okay, and it just requires us to switch gears and focus on that different goal.
Research has found that judgment (which is mostly negative) comes as a result of incomplete information, which causes people to complete their judgment via stereotypes. If you provide more information about yourself and share, share, share, you will be able to avoid judgment. Therefore, the more information you have present about yourself, no matter how irrelevant it seems, makes you a three-dimensional human. What’s more, if you share and divulge personal and emotional information and the other person reciprocates, you can create a sense of mutual closeness and intimacy.
