This week we are talking with Melissa Romo, MSW who works in higher education with her Student Affairs department. This is one of those "non-traditional" Social Work jobs that makes complete sense for our skill sets.

Melissa received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a minor in Human Services from California State University, Fullerton, and a Master of Social Work in Adult Mental Health and Wellness from the University of Southern California. Melissa has over 7 years of experience working in higher education in program and service development, grant and scholarship management, student leadership development, mass communication, and holistic student wellness. She provides students guidance and support in navigating financial matters, policies and procedures, providing immediate and short-term emotional and psychological support, and student development. Her experience includes working with diverse student populations such as first-time, non-traditional, first-generation, students with disabilities, and veterans and military-connected to promote access and retention, enrich the academic environment, and enhance student experiences.
