Was Canadian Cindy James killed by a determined, sadistic killer in Vancouver in 1989?  This week on Solvable Mysteries we investigate the disturbing case of Cindy James, a Canadian woman from Ontario living in Vancouver, whose claims of being repeatedly stalked, harassed, assaulted, and burglarized became stranger and even more intense over the years, until she was found tied up and fatally overdosed on morphine in 1989.  Despite these ongoing events, the evidence police were able to uncover over the years pointed to her being the main culprit in the attacks, potentially making her a Munchausen syndrome sufferer whose attempts to get attention eventually caused her own suicide.

On this week's show we investigate the famous case of Cindy James, a person many find sympathetic due to the apparent ongoing and persistent persecution she claimed to suffer at the hands of unknown assailants from 1982 to 1989, with her often being found unconscious, bruised, with cuts, and with things tied around her neck.  Over the years she claimed to have received threatening phone calls, letters, posters, and as a result police and a private detective conducted surveillance on her and her house.  During this period no other suspects were ever detected, despite the house being set on fire while people were staying with her, and an apparent break-in happening.
