What happened to Canadian Emma Fillipoff, who disappeared from in front of the Empress Hotel in Victoria in November of 2012?  This week on Solvable Mysteries we investigate what happened to a lively and well-liked new resident of Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, who vanished after showing disturbing signs of mental illness and the same day her mother arrived to help her move back to her mother's home in Ottawa.

On this week's show we investigate a case that is well-known in Canada, that of the disappearance of Emma Fillipoff. This young lady was extremely popular in town, and had held several part-time, seasonal or itinerant jobs around Victoria.  Because of her good nature, she was extremely popular and many people were shocked to see her condition deteriorate over the course of the year she lived there.  The week she disappeared, she began showing signs of a serious mental illness or disturbance, and as a result, police had been called several times by those worried for Emma's safety.  Emma's mother had also flown out to help rescue her from the situation, but disturbingly, Emma disappeared before her mother could meet with her, never to be seen again.  We explore what happened, and why.
