Was UMass Amherst student Maura Murray kidnapped by a serial killer? This week on Solvable Mysteries we discuss the mysterious disappearance of Maura Murray, a complicated college student who disappeared one snowy night in New Hampshire in 2004.



Welcome to Solvable Mysteries Podcast, hosted by Juras Sim and co-hosted by Glenn Highcove.  During this episode we introduce the background story of Maura Murray's life.  Maura was an accomplished high school track star and had a promising future at West Point.  However, internal struggles and possibly family and romantic issues seem to have undermined that bright future.  She transferred to UMass Amherst under accusations of theft and dishonor, and while she seemed to thrive with her new academic focus there, her strange behavior persisted with a charge of using a stolen credit card.  She had always been a secretive person, though well-loved, but her sudden disappearance on a February night after 2 car accidents in 2 days, under mysterious and troubling circumstances, brought us to the mystery that we discuss today, part one of a two part series exploring this strange occurrence.  Tonight we introduce the case and examine some of the less-spoken of aspects of this case, setting the stage for part 2, where we discuss the latest theories around Maura Murray's disappearance.
