What happened to missing Flight 19, a U.S. Navy flight of planes that disappeared on a simple training mission off the coast of Florida?  This week on Solvable Mysteries we discuss the famous disappearance of Flight 19, a group of 5 PBM Avenger torpedo bombers lead by Lt. Charles Taylor that seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth while in clear radio contact with their naval colleagues one stormy night on December 5th, 1945, along the crew of a separate flying boat.

Welcome to Solvable Mysteries Podcast, hosted by Juras Sim and co-hosted by Glenn Highcove.  During this episode we discuss and review the many theories as to how Flight 19 lost its way on what was seemingly an easy last test for a group of experienced naval aviators prior to graduating, and whether the paranormal theories surrounding its association with the Bermuda Triangle have anything to do with why to this day they have never been found.  We review the planes, people, and equipment involved, explain concepts around aviation navigation, technology, and what impact the famed Bermuda triangle has had on how this case is viewed, as well as its relevancy to the potential solutions to this long-studied and classic solvable mystery.  We spend extra effort examining the psychology involved where an aviation expert like Lt. Charles Taylor could have either a panic attack or otherwise let his ego override good judgment and ultimately doom a flight of experienced aviators navigating in familiar training territory.
