Who were the silent twins, and did they have a strange psychic connection? This week on Solvable Mysteries we investigate the compelling case of June and Jennifer Gibbons, twin women from Wales who developed their own secret language and who were later confined to the famous Broadmoor hospital in Britain.

Welcome to Solvable Mysteries Podcast, hosted by Juras Sim and co-hosted by Glenn Highcove.  In this episode we examine the famous Silent Twins case, an example of twins who developed cryptophasia, a secret language shared between them, while dealing with bullying and racism in 1960s and 1970s Wales.  We discuss the factors that impacted their ability to relate socially to their peers, their potential mental maladies, and the strange facts and theories around how Jennifer Gibbons was somehow able to will her own death so that her twin June could go on to live a normal life.  We also review the criticism after the case of how the UK health and educational authorities treated the Silent Twins, and whether there were any better options or alternatives to treating two twin siblings showing significant learning, social, and mental health challenges.
