Show Notes:

○ Galatians 5:22-23

○ 1st and foremost, remember that these Fruits of the Spirit are all characteristics of God!

○ Patience

○ Forbearance- a refraining from the enforcement of something (such as a debt, right, or obligation) that is due; the action of refraining from exercising a legal right, especially enforcing the payment of a debt.

○ Longsuffering- having or showing patience in spite of troubles, especially those caused by other people; patiently enduring lasting offense or hardship

○ Think about these two words, forbearance and longsuffering, and how God has displayed this for us a people throughout history, and especially for yourself

§ In the Old Testament, we see over and over again how merciful and gracious God was to his people

□ The Israelites in the wilderness often tested God's patience by their complaining, rebellions against Moses, building the golden calf, etc.

□ The whole book of Judges displays God's longsuffering and forbearance with us

□ Read Isaiah 30: 15-19

□ Read Nehemiah 9:13-21, 26-28

§ And even now, with everything going on God is still true to His nature! God is slow to anger because He is Patient!

□ Read Romans 3:25-26

□ Read Psalms 103:8-10

○ So now, for those of us who have been born again in Christ, we have been made new and called to be like Christ Jesus. We have been called to be patient and longsuffering with God and with people because God has been so patient with us!

§ Read 1 Timothy 1:15-16

§ Read Matthew 18:21-35

□ This is talking about forgiveness, but patience is also applicable here!
