§ Colossians 2: 6-23
§ (Verse 7): Let you roots grow down into him and let your lives be built on him
□ Stronger faith
□ Overflowing with thankfulness
® Read Psalms 1: 1-3
® Read Ephesians 5:20- “And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
□ Will not be captured (interesting choice of words; Paul is trying to get people to see the difference between what evil men want vs what God wants for us- which is out freedom in Christ Jesus) by empty philosophies or high-sounding nonsense which do not come from God and is evil
® There were a lot of false teachers in that day, as there are today
◊ Read 2 Peter 2:1-3
§ (Verse 10): So you also are complete though your union with Christ
□ When we came to Christ, we were spiritually circumcised when we were buried with Christ in baptism, and then raised to new life through faith in God's power-God made us alive with Christ!
® Read Ephesians 3:14-21
§ (Verse 14): Christ canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross
□ He disarmed & shamed the spiritual rulers and authorities
® Read Isaiah 44:21-22
§ (Verses 16-18): don't let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days…
□ Read Romans 14:1-4, 12-13, 17-19
§ (Verse 19): for he holds the whole body together…and it grows as God nourishes it
§ (Verse 20): you have died with Christ and he has set you free…so why keep on following the rules of the world…?
□ Consider what is and what is not a salvation issue or a tradition… and don't be led astray be religious practices that you are no longer bound to
® Read Matthew 23: 1-5, 25-28
® Read James 1:27- "pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for the orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."
