§ Read NLT: “If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom”

§ This sounds like something out of Proverbs:

□ Read-

® Proverbs 15:33

® Proverbs 19:11

® Proverbs 24:3-4

○ James 3:14-16

§ James calls this “worldly wisdom” demonic and evil because it is selfish and flesh-driven

§ It started in the garden, when Adamo and Eve took it upon themselves to listen to the whispers of satan rather than the command of God

§ If you aren’t living by the power of the Holy Spirit, then you are living according to the flesh or our sinful nature 

□ Paul refers to satan as “the ruler of the kingdom of the air” in Ephesians 2:2

□ Read 1 Corinthians 3:1-3

□ Read Galatians 5:19-21

○ James 3:17-18

§ That was worldly wisdom and this is Godly wisdom

§ James says it is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, impartial, sincere and good fruit (starting to sound like the fruits of the spirit, and like the fruit or good deeds that our faith should begin to produce in us 

§ Remember in James 1:5, he says “if any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you”

§ Pay attention to some of these promises in these verses

□ Ask for God’s wisdom and he will give it to you

□ Peacemakers who sow in peace will reap a harvest of righteousness
