My conversation with Parker J Palmer today is sponsored by Gratz College where I teach a course using Palmer's material to teachers getting their Masters degrees [EDU527]. To find out more about Gratz and the online degree opportunities visit gratz.edu -

??Now in his 8th decade of life, Parker J Palmer is world-renowned as a writer, speaker and activist who focuses on issues in education, community, leadership, spirituality and social change. He has reached millions worldwide through his ten books, including "Let Your Life Speak", "The Courage to Teach", "A Hidden Wholeness", "Healing the Heart of Democracy" and the book we will speak of today "On the Brink of Everything: Grace, Gravity, and Getting Old".

His work has meant a great deal to me, personally, because of its focus on enriching and nurturing the inner life. This includes, of course, the inner life of both the teacher and the student; and the space that happens between the two during the education process (or within a relationship dynamic) – which is decidedly, spiritual space.

In this very special conversation, we cover topics like failure, the inner teacher, fear, the light and shadow of one's life, heartbreak, contemplation, aging as a time of discovery, and all of them with the kind of wisdom and kindness that friends and fans of Parker have come to be familiar with and deeply cherish and those new to Parker will soon succumb to and embrace.

I invite you to find the extra related material for this episode (includes website, book links and more) at patreon.com/sparkmymuse for this episode [Eps 133] and please share this audio widely. Parker J. Palmer is a treasure to be enjoyed liberally.
