Fourth Sunday after Pentecost/Father's Day

COLLECT
God our protector, your Son stilled the storm and restored calm:
stand with us through all life’s storms, and give us courage to protect those who face
danger, that all may know you as their stronghold and hope,
through Jesus Christ our Lord;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.

COLLECT FOR YOUTH DAY
Father of everlasting compassion, you see your children growing up in an uncertain and confusing world: show them the path of life, enable them to triumph over failure and frustration, to hold fast their faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

READING
2 Corinthians 6: 1-13
“In a favourable time, I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the favourable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
11 We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians; our heart is wide open.
12 You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections.
13 In return (I speak as to children) widen your hearts also.

THE GOSPEL according to Mark 4: 35-41
35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, "Let us go across to the other side."
36 And leaving the crowd behind, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. Other boats were with him.
37 A great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped.
38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him up and said to him, "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?"
39 He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm.
40 He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?"

PRAYER IN THE TIME OF COVID
Author of life, Saviour of the nations
COVID is humbling, your grace is sufficient.
The deaths, we mourn;
For the recoveries, we give thanks;
The compassionate care, we applaud;
For the vaccines, we are grateful;
For compliance, we plead;
For the common good, we pray;
In the healing name of Jesus. Amen
