COLLECT
Merciful Lord,
you heard the cry of the blind beggar
when others would have silenced him:
give us courage to be persistent in prayer,
to ask plainly what we need
and to follow where you lead;
for you live and reign with the Father
and the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen

READING from Job 42: 1-6, 10-17
Then Job answered the Lord.
2 I know, Lord, that you are all-powerful; that you can do everything you want.
3 You ask how I dare question your wisdom when I am so very ignorant. I talked about things I did not understand, about marvels too great for me to know.
4 You told me to listen while you spoke and to try to answer your questions.
5 In the past I knew only what others had told me, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.
6 So I am ashamed of all I have said and repent in dust and ashes.
10 Then, after Job had prayed for his three friends, the Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had had before.

READING from Hebrews 7: 23-28
26 Jesus, then, is the High Priest that meets our needs. He is holy; he has no fault or sin in him; he has been set apart from sinners and raised above the heavens.
27 He is not like other high priests; he does not need to offer sacrifices every day for his own sins first and then for the sins of the people. He offered one sacrifice, once and for all, when he offered himself.
28 The Law of Moses appoints men who are imperfect to be high priests; but God's promise made with the vow, which came later than the Law, appoints the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

THE GOSPEL according to Mark 10: 46-52
46 They came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside.
47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
48 Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
49 Jesus stood still and said, "Call him here." And they called the blind man, saying to him, "Take heart; get up, he is calling you."

PRAYER for COVID
Author of life, Saviour of the nations
COVID is humbling, your grace is sufficient.
The deaths, we mourn;
For the recoveries, we give thanks;
The compassionate care, we applaud;
For the vaccines, we are grateful;
For compliance, we plead;
For the common good, we pray;
In the healing name of Jesus. Amen

BENEDICTION
Go out with your eyes opened to the presence of God
and follow Jesus on the way.
Drink in the richness of God
and enjoy the strength of the Lord.
And may God give you a long and full life;
May Christ Jesus open your eyes to the wonder of life;
and may the Holy Spirit fill you with the faith that makes you whole.

COMMISSIONING/SENDING
Go in peace with courage, to love and serve the Lord.
