Recently, the Austrian Prime Minister announced that after a lengthy investigation, it was determined that Muslim Imams in at least 7 Austrian mosques were inciting revolution against the Austrian government among other things. The result was that the mosques were ordered closed with the potential expulsions of the Imams and their families. While this got hardly any US press coverage, Pres. Erdogan of Turkey did notice and violently reacted with accusations against Austria even going to the extent of saying that their actions would bring on a new 21st Century Holy War akin to the Crusades of old.

Was this move by the Austrian government to shut down these Islamic Mosques a first for a European nation? What caused Austria to make such a bold move and has it produced any ripple effects across Europe? Why was Austria the first country to step up and act?Austria to shut down mosques, expel foreign-funded imams
