CA is in the news again this time with babies and DNA testing. Under federal authorization, a Newborn Genetic Screening test is required in all 50 states. And while babies born after 1983 have been having their heels pricked and blood sample drawn, this DNA testing it appears has not be shared with many or most parents and what is being done with these blood samples is potentially problematic. Why is baby DNA being collected? How is it being justified or ‘sold’ to the public?
