The Wall Street Journal reported with comments from spokespeople at John Hopkins and other sources indicating that 80% of those confirmed to get the virus tend to be mild or moderate with 62,000 of the currently reported 115,000+ diagnosed with the virus now proclaimed recovered. From a medical perspective, the high percentage of mild to moderate reactions to the virus would downplay the impact of this virus strain. Other numbers indicate that the overall death rate due to normal flu is 29K – 65K per year in the U.S. alone and these fatalities do not produce any concern. Therefore, the logical question: is the extensive effort to quarantine and limit contact with others warranted or exaggerated?
