One of the current controversies being engaged around the country stems from a decision by a TX judge to prevent companies from disseminating the plans by which guns can be made by the new 3D printing process. On one hand this is a First Amendment issue of being able to communicate information freely. On the other hand, it is a 2nd amendment issue because it concerns guns and a number of the state’s Attorneys General have filed a claim to stop the communication of these plans. Is this controversy a First Amendment issue, a 2nd amendment issue, or more?

Since citizens have the right to own and use firearms, while that right has been limited by law in a number of ways. Do citizens have the right to make their own firearms if they are able? Must that right be protected?
