The question is, “Who’s going to stop me?”

While this quote is often attributed to Ayn Rand, an influential writer and philosopher, she never said it exactly like this. The quote is a mash-up of a portion of dialogue in Rand’s 1943 book, The Fountainhead, as follows.

Roark, a young, unconventional, aspiring architect is responding to the Dean of his college following Roark’s recent expulsion from school.…

[DEAN] “Do you mean to tell me that you’re thinking seriously of building that way, when and if you are an architect?

 [ROARK] “Yes.”

 [DEAN] “My dear fellow, who will let you?”

 [ROARK] “That’s not the point. The point is, who will stop me?”

Practical Tip: Know what you want. Know where you want to go and how to get there. Know whether you will travel alone or with others. And begin!
