Hello to you listening in Prince George, British Columbia,  Canada

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

Julia Child is an icon in my kitchen. She charmed the icing right off my cake when I first heard her voice, learned her story. Julia said, “Every woman should have a blowtorch.” I imagine she meant a kitchen blowtorch for caramelizing sugar, roasting peppers or melting cheese.

Julia came to mind some years ago when I was working as a shepherd at Juniper Moon Fiber Farm. One day it fell to me to clean out the elevated chicken coop. With my bandit-style kerchief mask in place I scrubbed the floors and walls with a wire brush before flooding the coop with a hose to wash out all that dust and debris. Now, how to get it dry? Blowtorch!

We happened to have a crazy big propane torch on the farm. I fired it up, aimed it inside the coop using a back and forth motion, and before you know it all dry for the chickens. What I remember is the sense of power I had!

Story Prompt: What if you had a crazy big blowtorch? What would you do with yours, metaphorically speaking? Write that story!

Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something.   All that matters is you have a story.

You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, share a nice shout out on your social media or podcast channel of choice, including Android, Amazon Music and Audible and join us next time!
