Hello to you listening in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

The other day I came across a scrap of paper on which I’d written these words: “Never let a crisis go to waste!” - a statement attributed to Rahm Emanuel, Winston Churchill and others. What if a short-term crisis might create the opportunity to solve a long-term problem if we could just see it that way?

Once again a timely lesson for me to learn anew about the opportunity that a crisis might present once I’ve stopped blaming, stomping around, and making furious gestures. Yes, life is unfair and erratic. People can disappoint. This little piece of paper with its scribbled words reminds me to remain confident that I will find great blessing in this. And, if I so choose I will find the one elegant solution to the problem I am facing. Perhaps this will work for you, too.

Question: When you have been faced with what appeared to be a crisis, what or who or how was it turned  into an opportunity?
