Hello to you listening in Farnborough, North Hampshire, UK!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories from Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

At his retreats you would see my Zen Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh ask all the children to come and sit with him.

This was his way of inviting the children to hear a short Dharma talk before he excused them to their activities and spoke to all the adults in the retreat hall.

I remember one of his questions to the children: "Why do we brush our teeth?"

Of course they’d respond with answers like, “So we don’t have bad breath.” “To keep them healthy.” “My brother said I have to.”

Thay would smile and say, “These are all good answers; and the real reason we brush our teeth is to brush our teeth. For the experience of it. To pay attention to what we are doing in those few minutes...”

Question: It might seem silly to seek thinking of nothing as we brush our teeth; just mindfully brushing them and saying “Thank you” to the teeth we take for granted until they hurt. How does it feel to Be. Here. Now in those few minutes with your teeth?

You’re invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you’ll subscribe, share a nice shout out on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!
