Hello to you listening in Boise, Idaho!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

We’re still in the early days of Begin Anew Year 2023 where it might feel like we are going through a shakedown cruise. What’s a shakedown cruise? For the sailors among us you know that shakedown cruises are performed before a ship enters service or after major changes such as crew, repair or overhaul. For those of us who proudly served in the US Navy it is the final critical stage that tests and confirms the combined operational and material readiness of a Navy ship and her crew.

Are we ready for the voyage ahead? To leave our safe harbor? Are we prepared to sail outward bound to the high seas? What might steer us when we falter? How do we keep heading True North? Perhaps a solid belief in what we take along - our extraordinary lives.

I used to dream about escaping my ordinary life, but my life was never ordinary. I had simply failed to notice how extraordinary it was.” [Ransom Riggs]
