Hello to you listening in Point Reyes Station, California!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk With 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

As many of you know my 5 week, 500 mile pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago de Compostella defines my life: BC (before Camino) and AC (after Camino). Not a day goes by that I don’t recall some aspect of The Way of Saint James.

As you walk The Way you are often asked: how come you are walking? In the beginning I said I’m finding myself or healing old stuff. But it never rang true. Rather, I was called to walk. That was true. There was no more denying that call than stopping my own heartbeat.

But called for what? There were days I felt like I missed the spiritual boat. There were days I felt like I made a poor pilgrim. There were days I asked for answers and heard only silence in the wind.

Now I know. As the song goes, “Pilgrim, it’s a long way to find out who you are.” [Pilgrim by Enya]

The Camino asked only that I walk, be the walking, and be the road that led to me.

Question: How have you been called to find out who you are?
