Hello to you listening in Point Roberts, Washington!

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday.

I drove out into our snowstorm on December 26th. Why? I needed an onion to make soup. Getting to the store was rather dicey; but I did it. However, I simply could not get my front wheel drive Volvo up either of the two hills to return home. The icy roads were not about to give me any traction.

Did I despair? No. I slid back down the hill, avoiding the ditch, settled into my seat, gripped the steering wheel firmly and prayed to mom and dad who art in Heaven to get me home! I put the car into drive, skidded a few yards up and slid back down. Did this a few more times. Now I was mad. And determined to go against gravity. All I need is a louder prayer. “Mom. And. Dad. Get. Me. Home!” But the louder I prayed the more my car slid until I finally gave up, parked it off the road, hiked up the hill, and got back home just as mom and dad had intended.

They say, “Be careful what you ask for because you might just get it.” I believe what they mean is this: *what* you get might not arrive in the way you thought or imagined; so be content with manifesting gratitude for what you got.

Question: When has a prayer surprised you with its answer?
