Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

When this time of year comes around with falling leaves covering the ground my East Coast heart remembers a childhood delight of heaping dried leaves into a pile to jump into or burrow inside becoming one with the late autumn sweetness, a memory I can summon up to this very day.

As James Carroll writes, “We spend most of our time and energy in a kind of horizontal thinking. We move along the surface of things...[but] there are times when we stop. We sit still. We lose ourselves in a pile of leaves or its memory. We listen and breezes from a whole other world begin to whisper.”  James Carroll, novelist.

Question: What if you were to pause and summon up a good memory? What might happen next?
