Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds, your daily dose of hope, imagination, wisdom, stories, practical tips, and general riffing on this and that.

In his book The Splendid and the Vile best selling author Erik Larson offers a compelling view of Winston Churchill’s courage and leadership, eloquence and perseverance. He taught the British people to be fearless during a relentless, year-long bombing campaign that killed close to 50,000 Britains.

One night while picking his way through the rubble of what used to be a neighborhood of homes and shops Churchill heard a man call his name. As the story goes the man doffed his cap and said, “Life is grand as long as we don’t weaken.” Imagine that! "Life is grand, as long as we don’t weaken."

We are in the thick of it and no Churchill in sight. What to do? Find one grand thing today to remind yourself - so we don’t weaken.
