Please join us in meeting with Kent Walker, author of Umpire Mentors, a collection of the best umpiring advice from some of the best umpires in the world. We talk to Kent about Canadian Baseball, and his progress through the umpire ranks from a raw beginner, fresh off the playing field, to working in an International Baseball tournament and a Senior Course Conductor, who can teach all 5 certification levels. We discuss Kent's current project the research and data collection for his upcoming book, Umpire Mentors. We talk about the value of having a good mentor, and what makes up a good mentor. We ask Kent how he picked his survey questions and how he went about soliciting responses from umpires. We look forward to the book's release, and although the primary audience is intended to be the "new" umpire, we're sure we all could pick up some pointers and lessons from our peers. Enjoy the show!
