Traveling While Black - a podcast by Sasha & Shara

For nearly 3 decades, the "Negro Motorist Green Book" provided black people with guidance on safe places to eat and sleep when they traveled in the United States during the Jim Crow era.

While things may have slightly improved since that time, racism is still very much alive.

As a result, we have to take additional precautions to make sure that we and our families are safe when we travel. And that's not just in the United States, but internationally as well.

Today, we are talking about our experiences of traveling as women of color, as well as planning to travel to other countries. People often overlook researching the customs and cultures of the countries that they are traveling to, but learning a few words in their native language could go a long way.
