He held that position for more than 10 years, and during that time, his responsibilities encompassed a diverse mix of operations that included 20 resort hotels, four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, a shopping village, and much more.
Lee Cockerell joined Disney in July 1990, and prior to joining Disney, he spent 17 years in various executive positions with the Marriott Corporation and eight years with Hilton Hotels. During his career, he shifted his leadership style from the classic command-and-control to become a more modern, inclusive leader, leading with empathy and discipline and creating an environment where people wanted to come to work.
