The University of Findlay basketball program has evolved over the last 30 plus years from a non-scholarship NAIA program to an NAIA program that offered scholarships, and since 1998 has competed as an NCAA Division II program.  More correctly, the Oilers have competed as a true national power at all of those levels, and Charlie Ernst has been there for every step over the past 29 years.  Coach Ernst played three years at Findlay and spent his final year of college as a student assistant coach before graduating in 1992 and joining the staff full time.  After 20 seasons as an assistant, he was named head coach in March 0f 2011.  In none seasons as the Oilers head coach, Ernst has led the program to a record of 208-65 (.761), six NCAA tournament appearances and a pair of Sweet Sixteens.  His coaching journey is one that is marked by loyalty, devotion and a constant pursuit of excellence from the classroom to the court.  Please enjoy my conversation with Charlie Ernst of the University of Findlay.
