I had the unbelievable fortune of serving as an assistant coach to Michele Durand for 3 seasons.  In that role I observed one of, if not, the most loyal, dedicated, hard working and humble leaders in this profession.  The numbers are undeniable.  With 30 years of head coaching experience at two universities, more than 400 wins, 6 conference championships and multiple NCAA Division III tournament appearances, including a trip to an Elite Eight  as part of a 30-1 season, Michele Durand has been tremendously successful as a head coach.  What the numbers don't reveal is the foundation upon which that success has been built.  Building or rebuilding any basketball program is a process and a challenge that simply cannot happen by accident.  Coach Durand successfully built/rebuilt two separate programs and at the same time grew, developed and improved herself during the journey.  As she transitions to her new role as an Assistant Athletic Director, I was fortunate to get some time to talk with her about her journey, her coaching philosophy and her reflections on a career that has been truly outstanding.  Please enjoy today's conversation with Michele Durand.
