Whether it is the business world, marriage, preaching or coaching, the general consensus is that it just does not work out well to return to a previous position.  Well Steve Jobs would certainly disagree with that theory, and so would Scott Elchert.  Elchert began his teaching and coaching career at Jackson Center High School in 1989.  After five seasons as the junior varsity coach, he took over the program, and after a difficult first year, he steadily built the program to a consistently high level of success, with 20 or more wins in 1997 and 1998.  Elchert left Jackson Center to try and rebuild the program at his alma mater, Upper Sandusky High School in 1999.  After five seasons at Upper, Elchert had taken the program from 4 wins to a high of 18 in his 4th year.  Then he did it.  He returned to Jackson Center in 2004 and served as the varsity assistant for one year before assuming the head coaching duties again.  All the Tigers have accomplished since then is state tournament appearances in 2012 and 2016, and Coach Elchert's squad was one win away from returning to the Final Four when last season was stopped by the COVID-19 pandemic.  I guess things have worked out pretty well the second time around.  Please enjoy my chat with Jackson Center Head Coach Scott Elchert.
